Sunny Michalicek was born in 1983 in a small town just north west of Minneapolis. As a child he was always outdoors in a garden, fishing, climbing trees, and playing with his friends. This is where he found a love for the great outdoors.
As Sunny grew older his love for the outdoors grew as well. He began to travel farther and farther away from home and soon realized how big the world was. This is when Sunny began to take pictures realizing that there is too much the world has to offer and only so many memories you can hold on to. He then began to take his camera with him almost everywhere he went.
Sunny was always surrounded by artistry. His father was a painter and photographer and his mother owned a graphic art business and had a passion for photography. Also Sunny’s great uncle was the first to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in photo journalism. He was surrounded with people that encouraged him to be creative.
Now he lives in the great state of Arizona, working side by side with his mother on a photography business. Sunny won the 31st annual Juried Members Exhibition at The Sedona Art Center for emerging artist in the photography category on 3/4/2011. Hoping one day to be able to do what he loves fulltime, Sunny also paints, creates jewelry, and plays multiple instruments.
